Lizzie Jones makes art around personal and social themes. I make some art to do with the experience and aspiration towards nonviolence as a proactive force. I investigate the benefit of art in some complex social scenarios and also make art never the less fiddling and reflecting on immediate cherished details of everyday life, with hints of things being upturned also present. My work is often in the form of largescale explorative figurative paintings. In the Arches there is always the subterranean wonder of hearing life rumble overhead. It can be a good place for me to ponder on those radical roots that I am interested in.
During my residency in the Arches, some of my challenges and high points have been showing work in the ArtVaults, the Bargate Monument Gallery and Quay Arts Centre along with many public and private commissions and many creative workshops.
